There is an abundance of places to experience live music in Dublin. The reason is, music is an integral part of Irish culture. To help you find the perfect fit, we made a short selection of the best venues in Dublin to experience live music…because no visit to Ireland’s capital would be complete without attending a great gig!

3Arena

3 Arena is Ireland biggest indoor venue, hosting some of the biggest live concerts. The venue is built as an amphitheatre and the seating plan is well-elaborated so you can see well from anywhere. In 2011 the venue was the fifth busiest music arena in the world!

The Grand Social

Launched in 2010 this fairly new place has quickly become an excellent venue in Dublin with world class DJs and some of the most exciting musical acts on its program. The Grand Social is offering great facilities to both performers and the audience. It also features a beer garden on the roof and a weekly indoor market. Did you know it has been nominated for National Venue of the Year 4 years in a row!?

The Button Factory

Sit in the beating heart of the city, the Button factory has a bursting line-up in and an amazing location. From indie rock to house music, their selection is electric and you can be sure of a buzzing atmosphere no matter who’s performing. Like the Grand Social the place is neither too large or too small.

Whelan’s

Whelan’s is an old favourite in Dublin and the place is always packed. It has built its story up over the years by hosting some renewed names such as Jeff Buckley, Christy Moore and Nick Cave. It has also been on the big screen when it featured in the movie, PS I love you. This is a very good venue for live music or relaxing in The Parlour with its 1950’s style.

Vicar Street

Vicar Street is one of the biggest Irish venues for seated gigs with many Irish artists having played there. It opened its doors in 1998 and has a capacity of 1,050 seated and 1,500 standing. We can say that the setting is spacious without losing its sense of intimacy. The cherry on the cake, the friendliness of the staff who are always helpful and considerate.
